In the spirit of Eric Rohmer, four twenty-something Chicagoans pursue romance and find entanglement with a significant other both sweet and bitter. Set over twenty-four hours in a North Side neighborhood, COOL APOCALYPSE brings together Paul and Julie in a spontaneous early morning connection. Dinner over a bottle of wine and vegan beef stew with Claudio and Tess, a squabbling and volatile pair mid-breakup, exposes the dark flip side of coupledom as an ill-advised magic trick has explosive repercussions.
