Lighting Designer: William Rios
Dramaturg: Khristian Mendez

The Creek Monster Habitat was an illuminated, multisensory art installation that took over 60,000 visitors into the Creek Monster’s nest. This audio-visual experience featured an immersive soundscape, hundreds of UV reactive leaves, and glowing trees surrounding the habitat. It was designed and constructed by Texas Applied Arts for the Waller Creek Conservancy’s 2019 Waller Creek Light Show, a hands-on collaboration of UT faculty, industry experts, and students studying multiple disciplines including Theatre, Dance, Studio Art, Landscape Architecture, and Arts and Entertainment. This program gave students the opportunity to practice real-world digital fabrication, traditional construction, lighting design, painting, sewing methods and much more. The Creek Monster Habitat aimed to highlight the existing ecosystem and emphasize the importance of community stewardship and revitalization of Waller Creek.
